The City Manager candidate should have the skills and commitment necessary to manage a program that evaluates, preserves, and expands the City’s infrastructure. A proactive leader with the experience to identify future needs and obstacles maintain and utilize appropriate planning tools, and guide successful decisions both short term and long term, is highly desired.
The City Manager candidate will have a solid understanding of a progressive municipal government operation and a documented record of accomplishments in all key areas of municipal operations. The prospective City Manager candidate will be trustworthy, honest, fair, and socially perceptive, be a good negotiator and have the ability to analyze, reason, and uphold the vision of the City council and work with them to accomplish set goals and standards.
Education: Specialized knowledge in a municipal department head; able to direct personnel; may have a bachelor higher degree or an offsetting amount of experience in management and especially city management.
Experience: Requires at least 5 years of responsible city management experience or equivalent.
The City of Tonkawa offers a competitive starting salary, depending on qualifications and experience. The City participates in the Oklahoma Municipal Retirement System (OMRF).

Job Duties and Description:
The City Manager plans, directs, manages and oversees the activities and operations of the City of Tonkawa and provides strategic and complex administrative support to the City Council.
Responsibilities:
As the Tonkawa Court Clerk you are responsible for supervisory and administrative work required in the operations of the Municipal Court Clerk’s Office. Position requires performing specialized duties requiring knowledge of procedures, regulations, and laws governing the Court. Considerable judgement, discretion and confidentiality is essential in the administration of supporting services to the Court, and in performance of special assignments of a technical nature. Work in performed under supervision but requires self-motivation and is reviewed by the City Clerk through conferences and observation of results.
